“Red-Eyed Tree Frog”

This was a fun little painting to create. It’s inspiration comes from one of my first mentors, a wonderful little elderly lady named Margaret Brown. I met Margaret when I took a part-time job during my college years at a local liquor distributor. The job was painting signs for their displays with prices and illustrations. This was before they moved to computer graphics. Margaret was retiring and I was training as her replacement. While working with her, I discovered that she was a talented painter and active in the local artist community. Her favorite subject was tree frogs. (I tried to find a photo of one of her paintings without success.). I learned a lot from her before her retirement and was even invited over to see her studio. Although Margaret passed away many years ago, I still remember her fondly. This little frog painting is a tip of the hat to Margaret.

Original acrylic painting on 8 x 8 inch stretched canvas.

“Canadian Warbler”

Canadian Warbler on easel

“Canadian Warbler” is an original acrylic painting on a miniature 2.5 x 2.5 inch stretched canvas. The canvas is backed with a magnet, so the painting can be displayed either on an easel or on a metal surface.

I love working with these small canvases. They lend themselves so well to subjects such as small birds. They are also popular with customers. I have a lot of fun with them and plan to do more, maybe with different subjects.
